Sharing Traffic Trading Tips

It’s strange when you visit a lot of webmaster boards and read the threads about traffic trading, tgps etc. Seems to me people fall into a few distinct groups when it comes to their willingness and approach to sharing knowledge.

Firstly there’s the “tgps are useless, there’s no money to be made with tgps, give up now, dont even try to start one” group. Usually these are insecure tgp owners who don’t want any more competition types. They’re scared of losing their market share to yet more tgps.

Secondly, there’s the group who pretend it’s some kind of secretive black art, and that they have hidden knowledge, that they don’t want to share. They too don’t want more traffic trading sites competing with them.

The third group is the “parrot group” who repeat by wrote what they heard somebody else say, but never successfully grew a site themselves. They usually mean well, but talk crap.

Lastly there’s those good people who don’t mind sharing their knowledge. It’s knowledge they mostly gained from experience and experimenting with scripts, site layouts, different designs, traffic sources etc. They realise that the internet is built on sharing knowledge and don’t mind a bit of competition. It’s this last group that I hope I fall into. After all, some newbie that you help get started today, might be a 20k trade in a few months time.

Some Traffic Trades Just Don’t Work

Some traffic trades just don’t work no matter what you try. Sometimes two sites look like they will make a good trade and don’t. I don’t mind admitting that I have no clue exactly why this is. Sure, I can offer possible reasons for trades to not work, different thumb sizes, too much forced traffic, too little uniques to raw ratio, too many similar trades, incompatible traffic (my surfers mostly like busty milf and weird stuff rather than teens for example), different skim ratios etc. But honestly I still get it wrong a lot of the time.

So nowadays I just leave it up to the surfers, let them decide which trades sites to go to. Sure, a small force might be needed to keep some trades alive. But mostly I prefer to trade on effect. So every day I try and add a trade or two and eventually find a bunch of trades that work together ok.

GayThumbPreview.com Adult Traffic Trading Project - Getting A Design

Getting a design for my latest project GayThumbPreview.com

There’s two choices for me really, do it myself or pay a designer to do it.

I was surfing GFY and noticed a thread where a guy called Patrick from TGP Factory was having a sale. TGP/MGP designs for $35.00

So I hit him up on icq, gave him the spec I wanted and about a day later got the design back. I hadn’t used him before, but for $35 it’s a nice enough design and will be fine for my purposes.

I got my new server today so hopefully tomorrow we can go trading!

Starting A New Traffic Trading Site GayThumbPreview.com A Case Study

CJ Sites adult traffic trading blog is gonna start a new project. The idea is to start a site with zero traffic and log its progress daily right here. So you can visit this blog each day and be amazed by my traffic trading skills and strategies(or laugh as I fall flat on my face).

I’m going to start a gay tgp, so I registered gaythumbpreview.com

I don’t have a design yet or hosting.

I don’t know shit about running gay sites.

I don’t know which gay sponsors convert.

I don’t hang out on gay webmaster boards.

I don’t know who the bad guys are to trade with.

The honest guys don’t know me.

But I enjoy the exitement of starting new sites in unchartered territory.

Should be fun :D

Drop by tomorrow for installment 2 - getting a design.

I’m off to go introduce myself to the gay traffic trading community at Gay Webmaster Chat
